A pair of delicate linen bobbin lace lappets displaying the characteristic flowing botanical motifs of early 18th-century Brussels lacework. Each lappet measures approximately 18 inches in length and 3 inches in width, featuring an intricate pattern of stylized flowers, leaves, and curving stems worked in fine linen thread. The design shows typical Rococo asymmetrical movement with naturalistic floral sprays interconnected by meandering vine-like elements. The lace ground appears to be a fine mesh réseau, with the pattern elements raised in relief through the bobbin lace technique. These pendant streamers would have been attached to the back of a woman's cap or fontange, hanging gracefully down the neck and shoulders as symbols of refined taste and social status.
