A square ceremonial headdress panel featuring elaborate gold metallic thread embroidery on deep red silk ground. The design centers on a symmetrical double-headed eagle motif with spread wings, executed in raised gold work. Surrounding the central eagle are ornate foliate scrolls and palmette patterns that fill the entire surface. The embroidery technique appears to be couched gold thread work, creating a raised, three-dimensional effect against the silk base. The geometric border frames the composition with additional scrollwork. This type of heavily embroidered panel would have been sewn onto a fabric headdress structure, typical of Russian Orthodox ceremonial dress or folk costume traditions.
