traditional Yoruba agbádá · West African ceremonial dress
This agbádá ensemble features the traditional Nigerian flowing robe with dramatically wide sleeves that extend beyond the arms when raised. The white cotton base fabric is complemented by an ornate embroidered panel running vertically down the center front, executed in vibrant orange, red, and yellow threads with geometric and floral motifs. The robe reaches mid-calf length with side slits for movement. Underneath, matching white cotton trousers are visible. The construction maintains traditional proportions with the characteristic voluminous silhouette that creates a triangular shape when the arms are extended. The embroidery appears to be machine-executed with dense stitching creating rich textural contrast against the plain cotton ground.
